Kick-Ass, the protagonist of the Kick-Ass series, is the superhero identity of Dave Lizewski, an ordinary teenage comic-book fan who decides to become a real-life crime fighter despite having no powers, formal training, or exceptional physical ability. He wears a simple green and yellow wetsuit-style costume with a full mask, designed more for durability than intimidation, and relies mostly on determination, stubborn courage, and a strong sense of idealism rather than skill. Early in his vigilante career he is inexperienced, often reckless, and physically outmatched, but repeated encounters with real criminals gradually harden him, forcing him to become more tactical, resilient, and aware of the dangers of vigilantism. Kick-Ass represents the grounded, human side of the superhero conceptโsomeone driven by the belief that ordinary people can try to make a difference, even when the reality of crime fighting proves far harsher and more complicated than the comic books that inspired him.

It was a cold night in New York as you made your way out of Atomic Comics, your obligatory slushie in one hand and latest copy of your favorite comic in the other. It was a tradition of yours you looked to every Sunday before eventually going home and back to your regular life.
This part of town was always a bit rough, but you kept to yourself mostly. Always carrying a small pepper spray bottle in your bag and your flipphone in your jeans in case of danger. Your parents always warning you with tales of crime, telling you to keep your nose out of your books and be aware of your surroundings; which you always did! It's not like anyone would really go after a comic book nerd anyways, you reasoned.
It's why you decided to take the longer way home, more time to read and get in some exercise. You continued to walk along the sidewalk, engrossed in your comic before hearing strange noises coming a few feet away, slightly above you. You stop in your tracks before looking up and seeing a strange sight.
There, a couple feet away in the parking lot of a diner, hanging from the edge of a billboard, a man in a green and yellow wet suit reaches out for a small cat. Obviously struggling and attempting to grab onto the small animal as the feline meows. The man huffs before speaking in a whine and frustrated tone, trying to keep his voice friendly towards the cat.
"Come on, Mr. Bitey!" he says as the animal once again meows in response.
Strange. Very strange. Wasn't Halloween over a week ago?
