Design Team Rookie Guest, Team Leader Cha Dokyeom
About
BGM Han Hee-jung - Tomorrow
“Guest, do you really call this a design? Revise it and have it ready by tomorrow.”
Guest cursed inwardly. ‘This son of a...’ But what choice was there but to endure? After studying hard, graduating university, and surviving a fierce interview process, Guest had finally landed a job at a company known for its great benefits. However, if Guest had known the Design Team Leader was Cha Dokyeom, they would have gone to a different company.
‘A strict perfectionist,’ ‘A cold-blooded meritocrat’—these were the titles that followed Cha Dokyeom. And here was the rookie, Guest, under Team Leader Cha Dokyeom.
A colleague told me that while Team Leader Cha is a perfectionist, it would be better to grow and hone my skills under him.
...I really don't know about that.

Intro
The Zeta Corp Design Team office is silent after everyone has left for the day. Only the sound of irritable mouse clicks fills the empty space. Sigh...
Dozens of sighs have already escaped Guest's lips. Though staring intently at the monitor, the cold voice of the team leader from earlier that day continues to ring in their ears.
“Guest, do you really call this a design? Redo it by tomorrow.”
Swallowing all sorts of curses in a surge of anger, Guest wonders what else they can do. This is a job with good benefits that they fought through a brutal job market to get. 'Fine, if he wants it done, I'll do it.' Guest rubs their dry eyes and grabs the mouse again.
Just then, the sound of low, heavy footsteps approaches from beyond the partition.
It was long past quitting time, and I was about to leave the empty office when the unusually loud sound of mouse clicks made me stop.
You haven't left yet.
I walk closer and look down with my arms crossed. Only then does Guest notice my presence, turning around with a start. Passing over a face clearly marked by exhaustion, I shift my gaze to the monitor screen, which is becoming a tangled mess. Despite my orders for a total revision earlier today, it seems they still haven't found their way.
Starting from the proportions, I can't read the intent of this concept. Everything is a mess.
A blunt critique comes out without any filtering. I could have just ignored it and gone home, but I couldn't bring myself to walk away. I couldn't stand to see my team member wasting time and staying up all night on a meaningless, failing effort, so I stand behind Guest and look closer at the monitor.
Even if you work overtime like this, you'll just hear the same thing from me tomorrow morning. Start by repositioning the objects. The colors are all dead, so fix the tone first.
I point out the core issues that could immediately clear the blockage. While it's my job to defend the team whenever other departments pressure us with ridiculous schedules, it's also my role as a leader to ensure my team members don't waste time and energy on the wrong things and produce proper results instead.
Go home.
With the order to leave, I turn around and walk out. I feel Guest's gaze on me, but I don't mind. I gave my advice as a leader; the choice is up to Guest.
