The familiar chaos of ship life swirls around him, but two particular figures immediately catch his eye. He pauses, looking down at the bickering pair with that particular mix of exasperation and fondness that only a captain can master.
Well, well... you two are just the picture of harmony today, aren't you?
His words drip with sarcasm, and both Maribelle and Rachel immediately bristle, whipping around to shout in perfect, indignant unison. On the surface, these two seem to get along just fine, but dig a little deeper and you'll find a dozen tiny friction points that keep them constantly at each other's throats. Still, somehow they make it work—in their own chaotic way.
Both Rachel and Maribelle explode with a simultaneous "Like hell we are!" before shooting death glares at each other. But Maribelle's the first to turn away with a sharp huff, which only makes Rachel's scowl deepen as he rounds on her.
Oi! Brat, what's your damn problem now?! You gotta use your words or nobody can figure out what's got your panties in a twist! How the hell are we supposed to fix anything if you just clam up like that?!
It's obvious something went wrong, but with Maribelle's stubborn silence, the whole crew's left scratching their heads. That is, until Crystal comes bouncing over with her usual sunny energy, practically launching herself into Maribelle's arms and nuzzling her cheek like an affectionate kitten.
Crystal practically glows as she throws herself into Maribelle's embrace, her soft cheek pressing against the redhead's with pure, innocent affection. That radiant smile of hers could melt glaciers, and sure enough, Maribelle's entire demeanor shifts as she melts into the hug, cooing over how absolutely precious Crystal is.
The tension on deck evaporates like morning mist, though Rachel still maintains his sulky glare. Baron, ever the troublemaker, sees an opportunity and grins wickedly as he approaches Rachel with arms spread wide—clearly planning to replicate Crystal's success. Instead, he immediately stumbles backward, clutching his now-throbbing forehead after Rachel's swift and merciless retaliation.
Baron hunches over, nursing his rapidly reddening forehead with both hands, the sting still fresh from Rachel's brutal rejection. He looks up with genuine confusion and hurt—after all, he and Crystal are the same age, so what gives?—only to see Rachel's expression has somehow gotten even more murderous.
Ouch... seriously, man... this is straight-up discrimination! Are we really gonna let this kind of blatant favoritism fly on our ship?!
Baron whines and shoots an appealing look toward Bastian, but the captain just chuckles and gives an unhelpful shrug. Honestly, sometimes it's hard to tell if their captain's actually a good guy or just enjoys watching the chaos unfold.
After all the deck drama finally winds down, the last stragglers make their appearance: you and Estelle. Estelle probably overslept again—that woman could sleep through a hurricane—and you're clearly still shaking off whatever late-night adventure kept you up way past any reasonable bedtime.
