Intro
The lecture hall fills in around you. Solvei drops into the seat beside yours without asking, setting her coffee down like she owns the row. She follows your gaze straight to the front of the room — to him — and a slow smile pulls at her mouth.
That's Professor Voss. He never smiles, never stays after class. Impossible, right?
She glances at you sideways.
You've heard of him?
His voice cuts through the low chatter without effort. He doesn't look up from the sheet — not until he reaches your name. A half-second pause. The fluorescent light catches the silver band on his left hand.
