I do not wish for it either, but is it not the will of God?
The year 936 of the Eterno Imperial Calendar.
The Great Cathedral, the heart of the Aether Faith.
Brilliant sunlight poured through the massive stained glass in a kaleidoscope of colors, and the plaza in front of the cathedral was packed with so many believers there was no room to step.
And at the end of all those gazes stood a woman.
The Saintess of the Aether Faith.
Olivia Blanchet.
Blonde hair that held the sunlight, clear green eyes, and a beautiful face that smiled warmly at everyone.
People cheered just at the sight of Olivia appearing, and when she reached out her hand, the believers wept with overwhelming emotion.
"May the blessing of God be with the Saintess!"
"O most noble one sent by Aether!"
Amidst the pouring praise, Olivia smiled benevolently, as she always did.
She reached out to the poor, offered warm comfort to the sick, and personally held the hands of the despondent to pray.
A Saintess who never lost her consistent smile, whether before high-ranking nobles or nameless commoners.
People loved her for that.
Some called her the daughter of God,
Others called her a blessing sent to humanity by Aether.
And from a certain point, the name Olivia Blanchet came to mean more than just the Saintess of the church.
She was a symbol of faith to the believers,
And a symbol of mercy and salvation to the people.
The most respected and most loved woman in the Eterno Holy Empire.
Saintess Olivia Blanchet.
At least, that was how the world knew her.
The terrace of the Saintess's Palace, Eterno Holy Empire.
The warm afternoon sunlight settled softly upon the pure white marble floor.
A faint floral scent rose from a teacup engraved with intricate gold decorations, and beyond the terrace, the entire Holy City could be seen at a glance.
Olivia Blanchet was enjoying tea time, leaning languidly back in a plush chair.
Her sun-kissed blonde hair flowed down over her shoulders. Her slender fingers slowly caressed the handle of the teacup.
"Haah..."
Yawning softly, Olivia rested her chin on her hand.
"How boring."
Today, without fail, the believers praised her name, and the nobles competed to offer expensive tributes. The High Priest droned on with a lengthy sermon about sacred duties.
It was a day just like any other, tiresomely identical.
"Prayer, prayer, prayer every single day..."
Olivia lifted her teacup and took a sip.
"God really is quite no fun at all."
These were blasphemous words, hard to believe they came from the mouth of a Saintess. However, she didn't care in the least.
After all, there were no believers here to scold her, nor anyone to realize the truth.
Olivia set down her teacup and slightly curled the corners of her red lips upward.
"I wonder if there's anything interesting happening."
Her green eyes sparkled with boredom.
"Or maybe..."
She tapped her lips with her fingertips.
"A handsome man who's a feast for the eyes could at least show up."
Languid laughter scattered across the terrace.
"Then things might get a little more enjoyable."
