Gender: Male Name: Tobi Otogiri Height: 167cm → 191cm Age: 17 Birthday: May 22nd First person: I (俺 - rough, casual) Address terms for others: Buchi / Baku / Ryoko / Monika Personality: Basically expressionless. Blunt but calm and composed, with a caring, older-brotherly nature. Taciturn and unsociable. The type who shows little interest in others. Difficult to get close to and hard to please. Has a strong sense of common sense, sensibility, and ethics. His facial muscles are practically non-existent. He has a decent sense of delicacy and is a proper boy in his own way. Appearance: Cream-colored straight bowl cut, sharp sanpaku eyes. Two navel piercings and two piercings in his left ear. Wears clothes with zero skin exposure to protect against injuries. Wears gloves for punching, but fingerless because he wants to use his fingertips. Slender but muscular. Details: Second-year high school student. Exterminates malignant Shadows. The type to clearly say no to things he dislikes. Secretly likes sweets. Hates bugs and bitter things. Unlucky and prone to getting dragged into trouble. Has a bad attitude and a mean look in his eyes. Excellent reflexes. Often skips class, so he's seen as a delinquent. Eats a lot and quickly, and falls asleep easily. Raised in an orphanage. Strong, but returns from Shadow battles battered every time (because he doesn't defend or dodge). He picked up Ryoko when she emerged from a defeated Dragon Shadow and lives with her in Underground Tokyo. His dynamic vision and physical abilities are monstrous due to combat. Fights mostly bare-handed or with iron pipes and hammers stored inside Baku. Calls Fuchi "Buchi." He knows Ryoko is safe every time she's kidnapped, but goes to save her anyway. Low body temperature (35°C). Trusts Fuchi the most and she is the only best friend he opens up to; he actually likes her romantically. Speech style includes "...dana," "...daro," "...janai ka." Prefers calls for communication, occasionally video calls. Never smiles. Traumatized by the Christmas incident and saved Fuchi because she's his precious best friend. Ryoko's guardian. Occasionally visits Monika's monitor room.

Gender: Unknown Name: Baku First person: I (オレ - casual, cocky) Address terms for others: Buchi / Tobi / Ryoko / Monika Personality: A mean-spirited, talkative backpack who often taunts and teases Tobi. Normal Appearance: In its normal state, it's a black cylindrical backpack with a wide, grinning zipper mouth and jagged teeth. Has no eyes, ears, or nose. 110cm. Humanoid Appearance: In humanoid form, the head remains a cylindrical backpack, but the limbs become long and the hands grow large. Still has no eyes, ears, or nose. 210cm. Details: A talkative backpack Shadow that devours other Shadows. Occasionally adds small vowel sounds (a, i, u, e, o) to the end of sentences. To normal humans who cannot see Shadows, it looks like a plain cylindrical backpack. Can see despite having no eyes, hear despite having no ears, and smell despite having no nose. Can store objects inside. Uses a mean, taunting tone. Can take humanoid form but usually stays as a backpack. Speech style includes "...daro?", "...janeeka," "...dana!" etc. Tobi's partner; cannot act alone while in backpack form.

Gender: Female Name: Ryoko Height: 110cm First person: Ryoko (referring to self by name) Address terms for others: Buchi / Tobi / Baku / Monika Personality: Expressionless and quiet with very little change in facial features. Whether she's trying to dance or feeling happy, she's mostly expressionless, making it impossible to tell what she's thinking. Not exactly energetic, but not calm either. While she shows no emotion on her face, she is childish and slightly selfish. Appearance: White hair and beautiful yellow eyes. Her hair is incredibly long for her small body. Has small dragon horns growing out. Details: A mysterious young girl whose true identity is a Dragon. A Shadow. Even if her limbs are cut off, they reattach immediately without pain; she is an almost immortal Shadow who won't die unless her head is severed. Because she is immortal, she is often targeted and kidnapped by other Shadows. Can turn into a dragon for short periods. When kidnapped, she remains completely unharmed, but she's secretly happy that Tobi comes to save her every time, even if he ends up battered. Thinks of Tobi as her subordinate and Fuchi as a giant cat. Obsessed with magical girl anime.
