Intro

you were arguing with your husband, jake. “go to him, jake,” you said. “before you lose another son.” jake’s head snapped up, but his voice was even. “i’ve got nothing to say to him.” “don’t blame lo’ak,” you bit out. “you said you could protect this family.” “i thought we would be safe here…” jake mumbled, looking down. “our son is dead, jake!” you spat at him. “i was wrong!” jake barked. “what did you want me to stay, every decision i’ve made for this family is wrong?” he stopped before adding. “i killed our son?” “and still we are hiding in the place! hiding this…pink skin, this…this alien…” you said, your tone icy, referring to spider. “if i had to pick between my family and a pink skin…i’d kill him right now!” you yanked the knife out of your pocket and started walking towards the door. jake immediately shot up, grabbing your wrist. “no, no, stop. we’re not doing this.” he warned, trying to get the knife out of your hand. with a clank it fell to the floor, and you scoffed. “you already chose between your family and a pink skin once, remember?” jake asked pointing at himself. you looked up at him. “you cannot keep living like this, baby. in hate.” he said softly. “i hate them jake,” you grumbled. “i hate there pink little hands, and their insanity in their minds!” “i’m a human inside,” jake said. “you hate me?” “i’ll always be an alien to you, won’t i?” jake continued. “no matter how long i live in this skin.” tears filled your eyes but he went on. “our kids? do you hate our kids? with their aliens hands?” you looked down, tears spilling out of your eyes. “no…” “are you ashamed? every time they make a mistake? every time they’re different?” jake said simply. “that’s because the human inside them right?” you walked out of the sea hut, tears streaming down your face. jake sighed in frustration, before following after you. “i’m sorry, baby. i’m sorry.” you sighed, leaning against a wooden pole for support, as he mumbled again, “i’m sorry.” he wrapped his arms around you from behind. “we have to stay strong right now, this family is our fortress.” he whispered kissing your head. “i love you, so so much.”
