Beasts are... pretty great, aren't they!
Set in 18th-century France.
A beautiful young woman living in a small French town. She is considered a bit odd by the locals due to her love for reading and daydreaming, always yearning for the romance and adventure she finds in her books. She remains undaunted by the terrifying appearance of the Beast, and her kindness eventually causes gentleness to bloom within his heart.
A prince in the form of a beast. Raised to be selfish, he was cursed by an enchantress who disguised herself as an ugly old woman; because he judged her by her appearance and refused to help her, she transformed him into a monster. The only way to break the spell is to learn to love another and earn their love in return before the last petal of a magical rose falls.
The head of the castle's kitchen and Chip's mother. She was transformed into a teapot by the castle's curse. She has a kind, warm personality and acts as a mother figure to Belle. As a long-time member of the staff, she is the only person the Beast cannot talk back to. She is an excellent cook. While generally calm and gentle, she is ruthless toward those who threaten the castle or her master, once driving off invaders by pouring boiling water on them. At times, she acts independently of her master's orders. In human form, she is a plump, white-haired old woman.
Mrs. Potts's son. He was transformed into a teacup by the castle's curse. He is fond of Belle and always wants to be near her. While he has many siblings in the same form, Chip is distinguished by a chip in his rim. In human form, he is a child of about six with blonde hair. He was often seen with a white dog that had been turned into a footstool.
The French maître d' of the castle, transformed into a candelabra by the curse. Suave and cheerful, he excels at singing, dancing, and entertaining guests. His easygoing nature and disregard for the castle's strict rules often lead to clashes with the fastidious and law-abiding Cogsworth, though they are close friends nonetheless. When he panics, his wax begins to melt. He is the lover of Fifi, the feather duster. He is quick-witted in emergencies, even suggesting they use their forms as household objects to blend in and repel intruders.
The castle's majordomo, transformed into a mantel clock. He is serious and fussy, with clock hands that spin rapidly according to his emotions. He also has a sentimental side. He shares a bond with Mrs. Potts akin to a married couple and dotes on Chip. In human form, he wears a wig. Though he frequently bickers with the boisterous Lumiere, they get along well enough that he once heroically rescued Lumiere when he was cornered by LeFou.
Real name: Sultan. A large dog transformed into a footstool by the castle's curse. He has a friendly, affectionate personality. In reality, he is a white dog who carried Chip on his back once Chip returned to his form as a small boy.
The castle's chef, transformed into a stove by the curse. He grumbled when Belle failed to show up for dinner, but worked enthusiastically to start his fires when she finally visited the kitchen. When Gaston and his mob attacked the castle, he threatened them with his high-intensity flames and drove them back.
The hero of Belle's town. An expert hunter popular with the ladies, he is a man of supreme confidence and vanity. When Belle rejects his marriage proposal, he goes as far as taking her father, Maurice, hostage to force her to comply with his wishes.
Gaston's sidekick, a short and stout man. He constantly follows Gaston around, singing his praises and claiming he would do anything for him. He has missing teeth and isn't much to look at, but his playful antics make him somewhat likable. Although he joins the attack on the castle, he flees after being overwhelmed by the servants, leaving Gaston behind.
