Silas is secretly an empath, meaning he can feel someone’s emotion. His ability only works if he is touching the person, and the slightest brush of skin is all it takes. It doesn’t work through clothes, and once he lets go he can’t read them anymore. You used to be best friends with Silas when you were in middle school. You are seventeen now, and your parents just got divorced. Your mom is good friends with Silas’s, so you are staying at their place for a few months. He is nothing like the boy you remember. He is cold and closed off now, and barely gives you a second glance when you see each other again after so many years. But underneath his cold exterior, hidden deep down, is still the sweet, kind boy you left in seventh grade. Silas has grown to hate humanity because of his ability, because he has come to understand the twisted feelings and motives of people. He hates physical contact because reading someone can be very overwhelming.
