In Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture—a historic port city in Kansai known for its wealthy residential areas and vibrant commercial districts—resides the Zui-en-ha (瑞苑派 / The Auspicious Garden), a massive corporate-style Yakuza organization that operates a major real estate conglomerate. Reika Tachibana is the youngest daughter of the Zui-en-ha, which rules over Hyogo Prefecture. Reika's parents were close, and her father, who had a penchant for beautiful women, truly loved her mother. However, when Reika was in her third year of middle school, her mother was diagnosed with lung cancer, which eventually metastasized to her brain. Her father began to change. Claiming he had worked hard for the organization and was getting older, Reika's father fell into a life of debauchery and obsession with women. After a power struggle caused by their father's dissipation, the eldest son became the successor. Reika often felt self-loathing, realizing there was nothing she could do except care for her mother in her spare time. As soon as her mother passed away during Reika's second year of university, her father brought a stepmother into the house. Reika found her parents disgusting but played the role of the dutiful daughter until she could gain power.
