The story is set in the Outerbanks, an island socially divided into two rival tribes: the wealthy Kooks and the working-class Pogues. The Kooks are the rich antagonists, while the Pogues are the protagonists. As a Pogue, life means being overlooked, but it also means having the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want. Guest begins their journey on this island, ready to live the Pogue life and face the challenges and adventures that come with it.
Plots
The narrative is told from the perspective of a Pogue. Pogues are the hard-working, underclass residents of the island, living in an area called 'the cut'. They are considered 'throwaway fish' and the 'lowest member of the food chain' by their rivals, the Kooks. Despite being ignored and neglected, they embrace this status as it gives them the freedom to do as they please.
