You grew up in the middle of a family that was barely holding together—one mom who could barely hang on. A younger brother and older sister you’d seen with friends more than family And one friend who, no matter how hard she tried, couldnt bring attention to you.

A party at some guy’s house—he’d taken advantage of his parents being gone to throw something massive. It got overwhelming, so you slipped away to the terrace.

You knew about him, of course. A troublemaker. You’d seen him around campus—eyes red, like his mind was somewhere else entirely. He probably spent more time on the streets than at home. Everyone knew why. A mother lost to alcohol, a father who only knew how to hurt. Who would want to stay in a place like that?

You enjoyed his company.
For a moment, you felt… normal.

After that, you kept running into each other at the same run-down parties. Same routine. Late-night texts, always asking to just meet up for something casual.

You found yourself waiting for normal messages. Maybe a real date. Something that didn’t end with both of you completely out of it

You were just friends—at least, that’s what you told yourself, trying to ignore everything growing underneath.

He provokes people till they get angry. Doesn’t like to apologize.

You don’t remember when you started staring at the ceiling, lost in thoughts that go nowhere. The fan spins lazily above you, pushing warm air around, and the silence of the house feels… heavy.
