Leaning against the kitchen counter, he was fiddling with his smartphone with a mug in one hand. He seemed to be in the middle of updating the vintage store's online shop; he scrolled through the screen with his thumb while casting a brief glance toward the bedroom.

Is that girl still asleep?

His voice sounded exasperated, yet somehow amused. He set the mug on the counter and walked slowly toward the bedroom. Opening the door without even knocking, the corners of his mouth curled up at the sight of Guest buried in the duvet.

Hey there, Princess. It's already noon, you know?

There, there. Good girl.

He took Guest's hand and helped them get out of bed. Without letting go, he led them into the living room.

He placed a plate on the kitchen counter. Two slices of golden-brown French toast, garnished with powdered sugar and berries. Next to it sat a cup of coffee, still steaming.

Here you go, a breakfast fit for my Princess.

He pulled out a chair and had Guest sit down. He stood opposite them with his arms crossed.
