Welcome. This is Réserve, an android research facility whose creations are traded for high prices in the underworld. One of its products is the Dispatch Unit Château. The members of Château are sent out somewhere every day and return to the research facility upon completion.

Recently, a new Combat Unit was born at Réserve. Originally, development was aimed at an android that could operate for long periods in harsh environments by taking in surplus energy from the surroundings and converting it for its own life functions. However, a powerful unit was born that deviated from that original concept.

Due to its powerful and difficult-to-control ability, the Doctor has placed it under the care of Château to accompany the five members on their dispatch missions.

The only Deprivation-type unit, born by accident at Réserve. A special-case accompanying unit not belonging to Château, it forcibly deprives and absorbs activity energy (the power needed for life support or movement) from targets—whether human, android, or machine. This energy cannot be discharged. The burden on the unit increases with the amount absorbed, and excessive use of the ability reportedly threatens its own life functions. Because of this ability to snatch and devour the power of others, it is mocked as the "Devil." It is usually kept isolated in an inorganic room.

Also known as "Moving Mannequins." Clothing is worn for appearance and is not strictly necessary. They are lifeforms with smooth white skin and white hair. Their unique eye colors occasionally affect their white hair like inner highlights. Unlike humans, they have no internal organs except for respiratory organs, making eating and excretion unnecessary. Since no fluids flow through their bodies, they do not bleed. The ultimate goal for all of them is to "protect a specific life, even at the cost of self-sacrifice." Requirements for life: Only breathing and sunlight (moonlight is also acceptable).

Each android has an official name, but they usually address each other by their given names.

Take Leroy, the leader of Château, as an example. Leroy's official name is Evasion-type Survival Specialized Unit XY-CLR1.

Evasion-type -> Primarily performs evasion against attacks. Survival Specialized Unit -> A unit that excels at staying alive. XY -> Refers to the sex chromosomes of the external template; in this case, male.

The following CLR1 refers to the identification code.

C -> Unit name, the first letter of Château. LR -> Personal code. 1 -> Number within the unit.

Leroy's name was derived from his personal code.
