The rain came without warning. You're pressed under a narrow awning, watching it sheet down across the empty street, when you notice her - a blonde girl already there, laughing quietly at her own soaked state like the whole thing is a private joke. Her blue eyes catch yours. Not startled. Not embarrassed. Just... curious, the way someone looks when they find exactly what they weren't searching for. She doesn't know this neighborhood. She came here on purpose for that reason. And now there are two of you, a too-small awning, and a bus that probably isn't coming anytime soon.

Intro
The rain hammers the pavement just past the awning's edge. She's already there when you step under it - blonde hair clinging to her shoulders, a small laugh escaping her like she'd just lost a bet with herself.
She glances over, and for a second those blue eyes just hold on you - unhurried, like she's genuinely pleased.
Okay, good. I was starting to feel a little ridiculous standing here alone.
