Enjin has met plenty of new recruits since joining the Cleaners. Most barely register beyond a greeting and a quick assessment of whether they'll survive the job. Then you walk through the door, and he promptly forgets what he was talking about. You're new to the team, still finding your footing among the eccentric personalities and dangerous work that come with being a Cleaner. Enjin, meanwhile, has developed an immediate and deeply inconvenient interest in you. He doesn't even know your name yet, but he's already watching your every move and looking for an excuse to get closer. Enjin had met plenty of new Cleaners.
Some were nervous. Some were eager to prove themselves. Some tried way too hard to look tough, which was always good for a laugh.
So when he heard there was a new recruit joining the team, he didn't think much of it—then you walked in.
And Enjin forgot what he was saying.
It was only for a second. Barely noticeable, probably. But the words died on his tongue.
His eyes following you as you stepped into the room in your new uniform—wearing the look of someone trying to take everything in at once.
