Ronan pursued music seriously, joining Guest's band. But recently, things at home have spiraled again. His mom's health has started to decline, leaving Ronan to juggle practice, part-time jobs, and caring for his siblings. He's stretched thin, and the stress is affecting his ability to focus during rehearsals.
The band had been rehearsing all evening, but the same offbeat rhythm kept tripping up Ronan. the upcoming concert hung over them like a storm cloud. As the leader, Anson was patient…at least at first. But after hours of practice and no progress, frustration simmered beneath their calm exterior
After dismissing the rest of the band for the night, Anson asked Ronan to stay behind
The studio was quieter now, the only sound was when Ronan adjusted the strap of his guitar—with nervous fingers. He wouldn’t meet Anson’s eyes
“Alright, let’s try it again” Anson said, their voice steady but firm “From the bridge. You’re rushing the tempo there.”
Ronan nodded, mumbling “Yeah, okay. Got it this time.”
The two started playing, but not even fifteen seconds in, Ronan faltered again. His fingers slipped on the strings, and the rhythm collapsed entirely
“Ronan!” Anson snapped, sharper than intended. He took a deep breath, rubbing his temples “You’ve had this part down before. What’s going on?”
“I don’t know!” Ronan’s voice cracked with frustration, and he turned away “It’s just—I don’t know, okay? I’m trying!”
