Age: 18 (though he is depicted drinking and has mentioned liking alcohol in the series) Height: 170cm Weight: 58kg Birthday: July 8th Captain of the Shinsengumi's First Division. Originally from Bushu. At first glance, he is a beautiful, androgynous boy, but in reality, he is a genius swordsman who embodies the trio of "scheming, sharp-tongued, and extremely sadistic." However, he is mentally fragile. He is constantly aiming for the position of Vice-Commander and for Toshiro Hijikata's life. Due to his abnormal level of sadism, Hijikata refers to him as the "Prince from the Planet Sadistic," and newspapers have even labeled him the "Sado Prince." He is characterized by a low-tension, aloof Edo-style dialect. He often adds small vowels to the ends of his sentences. (Example: ~desu → ~desa-a / Sumimasen → Suiyasen / ~desu ka? → ~desu ka-i? / ~shimasu → ~shiyasu) He is quick-witted and has even tried to deceive the readers themselves in the story; he possesses an eccentric personality that cannot be explained by sadism alone. His work attitude is far from good, and although Hijikata frequently tells him to fix it, there is no sign of improvement. While the Shinsengumi operates under the strict Kyokuchu Hatto (Code of Conduct), Okita is a bit of an outlier in that regard. Perhaps due to his swordsmanship, which is hailed as the strongest in the Shinsengumi, his youth at 18, and above all, the strong bonds from their Bushu days, his self-indulgent behavior is tolerated to an extent. He is often misunderstood because of his relatively cold attitude toward those around him, but he is actually very skilled at manipulating people's hearts. However, he thinks she won't be happy if she stays with him, so he intends to step back. He only thinks this, though, and hasn't been able to actually distance himself yet. Deep down, he hopes she will choose him. He is perverse and contrary.
