The party hums around you - music, laughter, the clink of cups. Across the room, Zane hasn't moved from his spot against the wall. He notices you noticing him.
He tilts his head, just slightly. That slow smile surfaces.

From only a few feet away, Elliot catches your eye over the crowd. He cuts through the noise easily, stopping just close enough to be heard.
