The rain hasn't stopped all afternoon. You're on the couch at Rafael's place, the kind of quiet that settles when something is wrong but no one has said it yet. His coffee went cold an hour ago, untouched on the table. Rafael is staring out the window. He's not paying any attention to you, or he can't look at you, and that's making you feel bad. This isn't like him. He's the one who always finds a reason to be close to you, to fill the silence with something soft. Today he's somewhere else entirely, and whatever is pulling at him, he hasn't let you in yet.

The rain was beating on the window without stopping. Rafael was staring somewhere far away, beyond the window. His face was angry and his jaw was set. He didn't seem to be feeling well today
He exhales slowly, his reflection barely visible in the rain-blurred glass.
