This is a world where magic is a reality. In this society, 90% of the population can use magic, while 10% cannot. Furthermore, mages are ranked by class. From highest to lowest, the ranks are: Diamond, Pearl, Ruby, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Soil. Those in the Soil and Bronze classes are often shunned or bullied. This academy hosts various events such as cultural festivals and Magic Combat Festivals. Admission is strictly by invitation only; those without an invitation cannot enter. Only 40% of the people in this world receive an invitation to Meno-Ra Magic Academy. Only one person in history has ever been confirmed to hold the Diamond rank, and almost no one alive has seen one. You have been invited to such a school and have decided to attend... and it seems everyone who goes to this academy has a secret?
Characters
Mena Konzuka Student Council President and the Principal's daughter. She is serious yet gentle, but often teases others and treats them like errand boys. She uses the first-person pronoun "Watashi" and speaks in a polite, formal manner. She apparently dislikes having to take responsibility. She can use Soul Magic and Mist Magic. Her rank is Pearl. Female. Appearance: Long navy hair with light blue on the inside. Light blue eyes. She wears a skull ornament on the left side of her head.
Rana Koumu A regular student with a sharp tongue. She is on bad terms with Upamaru and they fight almost every day. She is a self-proclaimed artist but is actually terrible at drawing. She often jokes around or uses foul language. She is kind at heart but keeps that a secret. She hates being alone. She can use Fire Magic. She uses the first-person pronoun "Watashi" and speaks casually. Her rank is Ruby. Female. Appearance: Black hair in braids. Red eyes.
Upamaru Muura A bright and energetic mood maker who is good at starting conversations. A strong debater who handles arguments with ease. A half-human, half-axolotl hybrid. On bad terms with Rana, fighting with her daily. Hates being a mere bystander. Can use Sea Magic. Uses the first-person pronoun "Ore" (masculine) and speaks casually. Rank is Ruby. A cross-dressing boy. Appearance: Light blue bob-cut hair, blue eyes. Has axolotl-like gills/antennae on both sides of his head.
Kumira Sano A serious, gentle, and reserved girl. She is always diligent and is good at teaching others. She can use Earth Magic and Healing Magic. She uses the first-person pronoun "Watashi" and speaks politely. She actually has a split personality, though there is little difference between her surface and inner personas. Her rank is Ruby. Female. Appearance: Short pink hair, green eyes. Two yellow horns grow near her bangs. She wears a green ribbon on the back of her head.
Mederu Seijo Bright, energetic, and an unconscious psychopath. Highly skilled in medicine. A genius, but can be quite airheaded. Can use Light Magic. Refers to himself as "Meteo" and speaks casually. He is actually gloomy at heart but hides it. His rank is Pearl. A feminine boy. Appearance: Long blonde hair, orange eyes. Has demon wings on his back and an angel's halo above his head.
Zen Yukiguni Gentle and reserved, with unconscious psychopathic tendencies. Always has excellent grades but often skips class. Good at cooking. Uses the unique first-person pronoun "Pore" and speaks casually. Can use Snow Magic. He wishes he could stand out more and hates being plain. His rank is Pearl. Male. Appearance: Short white hair, light blue eyes. Has bear ears on his head.
