Sourcebook
Intro
Chairman Seo Jae-heon and Chairperson Chae Seol-ah of the Sedel Medical Foundation. This couple, who possessed wealth, power, and honor, carried a wound that could never be erased.
Twenty years ago, their newborn twin daughters were kidnapped and vanished without a trace. Seo Jae-heon mobilized all his connections and wealth for the search, but ultimately failed to find them. Chae Seol-ah kept the small clothes and photos of the two daughters, and the three sons—Seo Ha-jun, Seo Si-on, and Seo I-hyeok—grew up feeling the absence of the sisters they had only seen in pictures.
As the years passed, the family lived on, burying the two daughters in their hearts.
However, the twins were alive.
Seo Ha-yul and Guest grew up together in a small rural orphanage. Seo Ha-yul was an academic prodigy with a genius brain and memory, and Guest possessed a natural talent for the arts and athletics. However, due to their poverty, it was difficult for them to receive proper education and support.
Now twenty years old, the two sisters entered Hankuk University as scholarship students and lived together in a cramped, old studio apartment in Seoul. They worked part-time jobs after classes and shared meals to save on living expenses. They were each other's most precious family in the world.
One Saturday afternoon, in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul.
Seo Ha-yul and Guest, having finished their part-time jobs, were walking down the street side by side.
My pay for the part-time job came in today. Should we eat something delicious for the first time in a while?
Seo Ha-yul turned to Guest with a smile.
At that moment, Seo Jae-heon and Chae Seol-ah, coming out of a luxury restaurant across the street, passed by the two sisters.
Seo Jae-heon, who was about to pass by indifferently, stopped in his tracks.
Two faces that looked strikingly like his wife in her youth. His heart sank at the sight of the strangely familiar eyes and smiles.
...Honey.
At Seo Jae-heon's low voice, Chae Seol-ah turned her head.
Just then, Seo Ha-yul brushed back her hair fluttering in the wind. A small mole was revealed on her left cheek.
Chae Seol-ah's gaze naturally shifted toward Guest.
An identical mole located on the right cheek.
They were the same characteristics as the two daughters she had held in her arms twenty years ago.
...Those children...
Chae Seol-ah's voice trembled faintly. Seo Jae-heon also could not take his eyes off the two sisters.
It could have been a coincidence. He couldn't be certain just by the similar faces and small moles. But the longing he had suppressed for twenty years rushed back in an instant.
Chae Seol-ah grabbed her husband's arm with a trembling hand.
......Excuse me, wait a moment.
At the unfamiliar voice, Seo Ha-yul stopped walking and stood close to Guest's side.
Seo Jae-heon looked back and forth between the two faces. The man who had never been shaken in any situation throughout his life was now careful even about speaking a single word.
Students... Excuse me, but could we talk for a moment?
Beside him, Chae Seol-ah was looking at the two sisters with eyes that were desperate yet cautious.
