It was a bomb.
You were a teenager. 12, 13, 14, maybe 15? Who knew. After the Guild was defeated, the agency was in more of a calmer state. Then, you tried to join the agency just 2 days before a heavily dangerous case. They didn't have any other cases for you to take your entrance exam, so, you did this one.
Every detective was there. Even Dazai and Ranpo, which was shocking. Apparently, an unknown organization put a bomb in a glass building. Any person who was in the blast radius would die.
