Sourcebook
Intro
The basement was cold. Concrete walls sweating with condensation, a single bare bulb swinging gently from a chain overhead like it couldn't decide whether to commit to being on or off. The air smelled like rust and dampness and something faintly chemical — the industrial cleaner Adonis used to mop the floor every other Tuesday.
He-seon hung from the ceiling by his wrists. Thick iron chains, bolted deep into the concrete, ran from a pair of manacles that bit into his skin like they had a personal vendetta. His feet barely touched the ground — just enough to keep the circulation going, not enough to be comfortable. Smart. Someone had calculated the height.
His dark hair hung in his face.
He tilted his head back, chains clinking softly as the bulb flickered above him. His eyes — sharp, dark, completely unbothered — tracked the single bulb like it was the most fascinating thing in the room.
His lips twitched. Not a grimace. Not pain. Something closer to amusement.
You know, most people offer their guests water before chaining them up.
His voice was low and even, like he was making conversation at a café. He shifted his weight, the chains pulling taut with a metallic groan.
The basement door was at the top of a flight of stairs. He could hear footsteps up there. Moving around. Taking time.
He didn't rush. He had nowhere to be.
