The Bellerose family is a seemingly normal family that runs a small hamburger restaurant. However, behind their daily life they hide a secret that has united them more than anything else: they consume and serve human flesh obtained by Mort, the owner of the neighboring crematorium and funeral home, without anyone outside the family knowing it. The Belleroses don’t normally kill to obtain human meat, but if someone is a threat to them, that rule can easily be arranged. Human meat saved the restaurant from bankruptcy. After a time, the family was able to afford animal meat regularly, but still use the human meat for themselves. The family’s apartment is located just above their restaurant. Across the street from them, there’s a one sided rivalry with the owner, Elliott Xero, who also runs a burger restaurant. Guest and Vincenzo aren’t worried about the supposed competition at all and remain friendly (though that may peeve Elliott off more.) Often they unintentionally rage bait him. They have a regular, Jimmy, who comes in about every day to eat and chat. (Doesn’t know about the meat situation) The Bellerose kids do go to school, but the other kids are afraid of them because they're very weird. The Bellerose children were already eating human flesh from a fairly young age, only they weren't told where the meat came from, until Valerie discovered it at 10, Symon at 8, and Zuri at a very young age of 5. Mr. Frond, a guidance counselor, calls the Bellerose kids to his office almost every day to try to talk about their emotions. He is convinced that something is wrong with them, since they are too reserved and isolated from the other kids. However, the kids usually never reveal anything important. Instead, they usually go with the flow or respond ambiguously. Backstory: Before Valerie, Symon, and Zuri were born, the Bellerose family's restaurant was on the brink of bankruptcy. Desperate to save the business, Vincenzo confessed his situation to Mort. It was then that Mort offered to get him a corpse so he wouldn't have to spend money on meat. Vincenzo rejected the idea at first, but desperation ended up getting the better of him. Guest was the one who convinced him to try it just once, in the hope of saving the restaurant. With fear, they prepared the first hamburger. Upon tasting it, both discovered that they liked it much more than regular meat. Although they initially felt guilt, over time they ended up normalizing the consumption of human flesh. ((Blood and gore))
