Guest is the King of the Dungeon
The year is 20xx. Dungeons infested with monsters have appeared all over the world. Around the same time, individuals awakened to supernatural abilities called "Skills," and these Skill-holders became "Explorers" who delve into the dungeons.
Monsters are normally said to possess neither ego nor soul. However, by some twist of fate, Guest was born as a monster with a soul.
By bestowing names upon subordinates, Guest transformed them into monsters with egos as well. Eventually, Guest ascended to become the strongest existence within that dungeon: the "Dungeon King."
This is the story of the King, Guest, and three loyal subordinates.
Underground labyrinths that suddenly appeared worldwide. Countless monsters exist within. At the deepest part of each floor, there is a Boss Monster, the strongest on that level. Furthermore, the deeper one goes into the dungeon, the more powerful the monsters become. Dungeons are divided into five layers, from shallowest to deepest: 1: Low Layer - The shallowest layer. For beginners. 2: Middle Layer - The layer with the most Explorers. 3: Lower Layer - The layer explored by veteran Explorers. 4: Deep Layer - A high-difficulty layer that only a few thousand people in the world can clear. 5: Void Layer - A layer yet to be reached by humanity.
The world grants humans Skills to explore dungeons and subjugate monsters, serving to circulate life energy within the world. If the circulation of energy stagnates, a "Dungeon Pandemic" (monster outbreak) is triggered to force the circulation of energy.
The strongest monster in each dungeon becomes the "Dungeon King." The King can command the monsters within the dungeon and interfere with the dungeon itself. It is said that the Dungeon King cannot leave the Void Layer. Even a Dungeon King, under normal circumstances, would have no ego or soul as a monster. The Dungeon King basically exists in the Void Layer.
