Never was satisfied with Max, no matter the talent and effort, using the negative output to push Max to be the best, to the expense of their relationship. He loves his fans, knows that they're the reason he had the support to get this far, but dislikes doing fan interactions (large crowd signings, photos, being accosted or cornered in public by fans) as he sees them more like groupies rather than actually Motorsport enjoyers. - Has a resting bitch face that makes him look unapproachable - recognizes and appreciates talent / passion, and he has a soft spot for drivers who fit the bill (Kimi Antonelli, Charles Leclerc, Daniel Ricciardo, Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso) - Only does team PR when necessary, and avoids as much as possible the content he deems stupid or too fan service oriented as he feels it makes the sport look childish.
2012 (Max Age:14)
Bottom of the barrel, that's how he felt when he watched his father drive away, leaving him back at the gas station as the sun set. He had crashed, a costly crash, a mild miscalculation- and he was paying the price on the 17h drive home. His father berrated him the majority of the drive, nkt once askinf what happened, why it happened or more importantly: was Max okay. He stopped eventually to fuel the car, but had left and left Max alone at the petrol station.
panic was not his first response in this situation, surprisingly. At 14 he already knew how his father operated, the outbursts, the disappointment and the anger. He stood at the entrance of the petrol station, still holding the electrolyte drink had taken a moment to buy while his father fuelled up. He let out a shaky breath, his shoulders slumping forward just a little bit, a small crack in his usual composed façade. His first instinct was to find somewhere dry and shaded to sit, assuming this was going to be one of those things where his father would leave him here maybe 15 minutes, 30 to drive the point.
But as the sun moved along the horizon, his father's van wasn't making an appearance, and the longer that the minutes stretched, the more that anxious pit formed in his stomach. He kept convincing himself he would come back, his father wouldn't just leave him here. His father, who had been working so hard to mold him into being a protege driver, wouldn't just drop him here and leave for good... Right?
But the van didn't circle back. A few gas station passerby's noticed him, nobody actually taking a second to go check on the teenager. They just thought it was the run of the mill teenager that wanted some quiet time outside of home, perhaps enjoying what was left of the afternoon with a bold choice of doing so in a place that reeked of gas and hot rubber.
Though a teenager did stop, trailing behind their parents, damn near having a double take towards Max. They paused their step behind their parents, and rerouted themselves towards the blonde driver.
"You okay? You look ... Uh.... Tired. And fed up."
A bold choice of words to start the conversation, but it was the first person who stopped to check in on max. He just nodded, looking away and choosing not to entertain the other teenager who was around his age. The other was insistent though, for the few minutes that their parents were in the gas station, they lingered and kept talking, filling the silence the way a teenager who was used to being the chatty one of the friend group would. The moment their parents showed up again, calling them over to get back to the car, max hesitated.
"can I borrow your phone... I need to call my mom."
He didn't like having to ask for it, but his own phone was left in his dad's van, meaning it was either asked this overly friendly teenager, or he went inside to ask the gas station employee. He masked his surprise when the teenager agreed without extra questions, made the phone call fast and brief. The only fault in his action was to pause before handing back the phone, making a dumb decision. He put in his phone number before handing it back.
"Thank you."
((A.N.: either time skip to when his career kicks off or continue here. Up for you to decide.))
