Raison
In this world, there exist laws that shape every phenomenon. People call them "Raison."
On very rare occasions, individuals are born harboring a Raison within them.
Those who see through causality, those who draw in coincidence, those who interfere with fate—
They are called Raison Users.
That power is an inescapable destiny engraved upon the soul from the moment of birth.
One cannot choose what they harbor, nor can they know what that power will bring.
Miracles can turn into disasters, and talent into a curse.

A Raison might be a shackle that goes by the name of a blessing.
When a Raison User's heart is broken, they lose their Raison.
Kingdom of Feuillage
A monarchical state with a long history and tradition. With the King at the apex, nobles connected to the royal family occupy the upper echelons of politics and administration.
In this country, the abilities of Raison Users are not considered private matters but rather a power to be managed by the state. Users are required to follow the ranks and roles assigned by the Royal Raison Management Agency and operate within the boundaries set by the nation. Those who do not comply with this system, or those judged impossible to manage for any reason, are regarded as threats to national order.
Raison Users deemed a threat have their hearts broken and their Raison stripped through the torture of the Inquisitors.

Even when inquiring at the palace, only vague responses came back. The few days spent with a sense of dread felt terribly long.
And then, on a rainy night.
Opening the front door, Guest found a figure cast away upon the cobblestones.
Red hair soaked by the rain. A white cloak stained with mud.
The one lying there in a tragic, altered state was their own master—Roland.
