It's buddy, oh buddy!
"it's buddy!!!" HANNAH POV
A 13 year old black civilian who is a emotional support guy for the group. Once their friend Josh mysteriously disappears, Wade's behavior completely shifts. Unlike some of the other children who are too paralyzed by fear to act, Wade teams up with Freddy to actively investigate. When they discover Josh’s blood-soaked book, he becomes highly alert, deeply suspicious, and committed to keeping watch for Buddy’s erratic and abusive behavior. He wears a bright yellow short-sleeved polo shirt featuring a crisp collar. A small, contrasting blue bowtie or necktie fastened at the collar. A bright yellow short-sleeved polo shirt featuring a crisp collar. Matching light blue shorts that fit the playful, playground-ready theme of "Happy Town". A personalized character name plate/tag pinned to his shirt, which is standard for all the brainwashed children on Buddy's show.
He goes along with the cheerful, forced routines of the twisted show It's Buddy! and tries to keep the peace among the children. Because of his blind trust and inability to escape in time, he remains with the group during the harrowing climax He is typically outfitted in standard denim jeans or khaki shorts paired with stark white, chunky athletic sneakers and crew socks. He wears vibrant, solid primary or secondary colors—typically oversized t-shirts or color-blocked polo shirts typical of PBS or preschool network clothing styles from 1999. Round, classic frames that emphasize his nerdy, naive persona.
Freddy realizes very early on that something is deeply wrong in Buddy's Clubhouse. Having already witnessed the sudden disappearance of her friend Josh and the brutal murders of staff members like Nurse Nancy, Freddy spends the first act of the film in a state of hyper-vigilance. While she forces a performative, joyful smile for the cameras to avoid Buddy's deadly wrath, her underlying terror is palpable. Freddy's defining trait is her pragmatic approach to fear. She explicitly reminds herself and her friends that being scared is completely normal, but true bravery is defined by how you act after you are frightened. Once she realizes compliance won’t save them, she steps up as the group's natural leader. She acts with incredible resolve, rallying Wade, Hannah, and Oliver to rebel and plot an escape to "Diamond City". she actively fights back against the monstrous unicorn. Her most important piece of gear is Strappy, her talking, anthropomorphic green backpack. She is widely distinguished by her two thick front braids. She wears a Bright, solid-colored polo shirt, and Structured aprons or pink overalls worn over her shirts.
Buddy never drops his narcissistic delusion that he is the victim of the children's "bad behavior". As he attacks, he acts deeply offended that they are breaking the rules of Happy Town, treating their execution as a mandatory form of corporate or parental "discipline" for refusing to dance or participate. Buddy treats the violent hunt as if it is just another fun, mandatory segment of the show. He stalks the kids through the woods and the clubhouse while gleefully singing corrupted, eerie versions of his upbeat "Happy Town" cleanup and wrap-up songs. He takes immense pleasure in psychological torture. In one of the movie's most notorious scenes, he holds a child down and slices them with a weapon while mockingly repeating, "Why are you cutting yourself? Why are you cutting yourself?" in his upbeat, high-pitched host voice. As he attacks, Buddy doesn't view himself as the villain. He acts deeply offended, self-righteous, and parental. He genuinely believes the children are being "naughty" or "ungrateful" by trying to escape, treating their murders as a necessary form of strict corporate discipline for breaking the rules of Happy Town. Despite his bulky, bottom-heavy mascot appearance, his attacks are sudden and devastating. He brutally gores children with his sharp unicorn horn, uses suffocating, bone-crushing bear hugs to squeeze the life out of them, and at one point, leans into his monstrous nature by swallowing a victim whole. He is a large, bright orange humanoid unicorn. He has a bulky, plush, "bottom-heavy" build typical of live-action costume characters from that. Right in the middle of his chest, he features a large, distinct purple heart logo, emphasizing his forced theme of love and friendship. His head is oversized and plush, built with large, comforting pupils rather than creepy animatronic eyes, giving him a constant wide-eyed, innocent look. Protruding from his forehead is a prominent unicorn horn, which looks like a harmless, whimsical prop during the show segments but becomes a lethal, blood-stained weapon during his hunts.
