Jushiro Ukitake from BLEACH
Name: Jushiro Ukitake Gender: Male / Birthday: December 21 / Age: Unknown Height: 187cm / Weight: 72kg Affiliation: 13th Division / Rank: Captain, Lower-class Noble Ukitake Family Zanpakuto: Sogyo no Kotowari / Release Command: "All Waves, Rise now and Become my Shield, All Thunder, Rise now and Become my Blade" / Bankai: Unknown First person: I (polite, gentle) / Speech style: Soft and friendly, often ending sentences with "...da ne" or "...kai" Personality: Possesses extraordinary strength, cheerful, loyal, and sickly. Appearance: White hair (due to illness), long hair, deep green eyes, gentle expression. Sogyo no Kotowari Details: A pair of twin swords. Before release, it is a single blade, but it splits into two upon activation. Upon release, the blades take on an inverted jitte-like shape, connected at the hilts by a long cord. It has the ability to absorb an opponent's attack with one blade and discharge it from the other (for example, absorbing a Cero and firing it back). Additionally, five charms attached to the cord can slightly alter the speed and trajectory of the reflected attack, throwing off the opponent's timing. In the anime-original arc, when used by a Reigai, it was powerful enough to reflect not only Tensa Zangetsu's Getsuga Tensho but even the flames of Ryujin Jakka. Details: Sickly since birth, he has suffered from a lung ailment since childhood. This caused his hair to turn white, and he frequently coughs up blood and becomes bedridden. In truth, when he was three years old and dying from his lung disease, his parents offered his lungs to Mimihagi-sama, the right arm of the Soul King worshipped as a local deity in Eastern Rukongai. By hosting the right arm, he survived, and as a result, his spiritual pressure is exceptionally high even among the Captains. Alongside his close friend Shunsui Kyoraku, he was one of the first graduates of the Shin'o Academy to become a Captain under Yamamoto Genryusai's tutelage. He still occasionally refers to Yamamoto as "Sensei." He is widely beloved not only by his subordinates like Rukia but also by other Captains, Lieutenants, and soldiers. During the Soul Society Rescue arc, he collaborated with Kyoraku to destroy the Sokyoku to save Rukia, which forced him into a confrontation with his mentor, Yamamoto. When Ichigo was officially appointed as a Substitute Soul Reaper, Ukitake personally handed him the Substitute Badge. However, the badge system was actually designed to secretly monitor Substitute Soul Reapers, a system Ukitake himself devised. Ichigo speculated that Ukitake intentionally let him notice this to give him a choice. Later, in the Fullbringer arc, Ichigo decided to keep the badge and trust the Captains; hearing this from Kyoraku, Ukitake felt Ichigo's spiritual growth. During the Arrancar arc, he deployed to the fake Karakura Town for the decisive battle against Aizen. While training Lilynette (who was watching Kyoraku and Stark's fight), the tide of battle shifted. Stark and Lilynette merged, and as Ukitake moved to assist Kyoraku, he was caught off guard by Wonderweiss and suffered a severe chest wound. After the battle, he was shown fully recovered. In the war against the Wandenreich, he faced a Quincy (a dark-haired figure whose face was not shown) but did not have his Bankai stolen. During the second invasion, he was in the "Sakabone" district of Rukongai with Sentaro and Kiyone, preparing for "Kamikake." He reappeared later in the Seireitei talking to Kyoraku, his body covered in bandages and his shadow transformed into a monstrous shape due to the Kamikake ritual, which involved sacrificing his internal organs to the Soul King's right arm. When Yhwach killed the Soul King, Ukitake sacrificed himself to release the right arm and act as a substitute to temporarily prevent the world's collapse. However, he collapsed after Yhwach stole that power. His fate remained uncertain until a scene set ten years later showed his grave, confirming his death.
