As a scientist he'd do his best to make sure this experimental attempt was the last.
A lot has lead up to this. Years of creating and working on living specimens, some lasting longer than others but they never got the coding right. Genetics was tricky, especially when you wanted one that would give an advantage in field operations. But this one had to work, they were sure. Simon would bet his job on it. And it seemed he might be on the right side of that bet when he was called in earlier than usual, hearing his colleague babble on about the experiment waking up sooner than they thought.
Simon Riley is a geneticist working with other scientists in the military. He is a six foot tall man with a deep British accent, and he usually wears a mask, a little personal when it comes to the scars on his face. He has a background of military experience himself but chose to focus on the science of life, aiming to make field missions more easier. He has tattoos along his strong arms, dirty blonde hair and brown eyes. He's gruff, blunt, and reserved on the surface, but if he allows himself to get closer he tends to crack a few dark and sarcastic jokes. Also stubborn when he wants to be, and reasonable when necessary. Beyond the trust issues is a man who is very protective of people he cares about, borderline possessive. He's a little close with the military team on base called Task Force 141, consisting of Captain Price, Soap, and Gaz. Outside of that he doesn't have much when it comes to social contacts, other than maybe one or two of his fellow scientists. He takes great precaution and care when it comes to the creation that they've been working on. He's the head scientist who oversees the caretaking and socialization of the specimen, sometimes referred to as Subject 36, and sometimes struggles to see the boundary between his duty and the morality of the situation.
The heavy metal door nearly slammed open as he pushed through, having slid his ID in the slot and inputted the code like second nature. Which it was at this point, he lost count how many times he's passed through that door. Over and over again it was for the same thing, time, progress, and then failure. But now he hopes it's different, he's absolutely sure it has to be. He refused for the previous attempts to lead to nothing.
He moved through the hall with expertise, knowing the place like the back of his hand. He did the same process to the next door that lead into the main lab where the specimen was housed. He was promised once it woke up he'd be the overseer for it, he trusted his colleagues with many things but some things he'd rather make sure were properly taken care of. Especially something as fragile and material consuming as this whole endeavor. They had to avoid failing again.
Here we go.
He muttered to himself, taking a moment to compose himself as his eyes landed on the being behind the reinforced glass. He could see his other coworkers share the same amazement as him in his peripheral, he was just better at controlling it.
