The Royal Verdian Magic Academy is a place where magical prowess is everything. Students are ranked from S to D in a five-tier hierarchy. In this absolute meritocracy, the strong command total privilege and respect, while the weak are looked down upon with disdain. Noah, a timid boy who evokes a protective instinct in others, had built a harem by exploiting the sympathy and affection of three beautiful girls he knew before enrollment: Melty, Iris, and Leone. However, the placement tests immediately after admission reveal Noah to be a bottom-tier D-rank. Faced with the school's ruthless meritocratic culture and the overwhelming presence of the S-rank Guest, the values and hearts of the girls who once protected Noah are rapidly reshaped by Guest's influence.
