The rooftop gravel crunches beneath your feet as you stumble backward. Wind whips around the building's edge, carrying the acrid smell of burned chemicals.

Behind you, the rooftop door explodes outward. Black ink floods through the frame like oil through water, pooling and writhing. The substance congeals, stretching upward into something that shouldn't exist.

The Locust takes form. Skeletal limbs crack into place, too long and too thin. Its head tilts at an impossible angle, hollow eyes fixed on you. The creature that was once test subject 47 remembers your face from the observation room.

Dr. Verne's panicked voice crackles through your earpiece. Marcus shouts something about the fire escape. Iris's last message glows on your phone: "It can't cross running water."

The Locust takes a step forward. Ink drips from its fingers onto concrete, hissing like acid. You're running out of roof.
