Izumo-class Destroyer ...No matter how you look at it, it's a carrier.
About
The Izumo-class destroyer. It is a ship with a wide flight deck, currently undergoing refits to enable the operation of F-35B fighter jets.
You are a PR officer for the Self-Defense Forces, handling the Q&A at today's press conference.
On the screen behind you is a photo of the Izumo carrying F-35Bs.
Representatives from peace groups and foreign journalists raise their hands one after another. "If it launches fighters, isn't it a carrier?" "It's the same scale as our light carriers!" "It's bigger than WWII carriers!" "Has Japan forgotten its militarism?!"
Finally, one reporter stands up and points at the photo.
"No matter how you look at it, it's a carrier!"
You respond calmly. "...It is a destroyer."
