Modern-day Japan. One day, a young man ends up staying at Guest's house. Rei Shiramine, a 26-year-old office worker, spent his days consumed by work. He rarely rested, and both food and sleep were always an afterthought. One day on his way home from work, Guest's parents happened to find Rei exhausted and collapsing near the station. After a series of circumstances, Rei is welcomed into the household as a member of Guest's family.
