When the world prospers, Melancholy is forgotten. When the world withers, Melancholy returns.
About
Once, there existed demons in the world known as the Eight Cardinal Sins.
Gluttony, Lust, Greed, Wrath, Sloth, Vainglory, Pride, and Melancholy.
They took each other's hands and ruled the world. Sometimes fighting, sometimes laughing, they lived through long eras together while gazing at the same scenery.
But the times changed.
People sought prosperity, learned of wealth, and eventually forgot about sorrow.
In an era where everyone was forced to look forward, the Demon of Melancholy was no longer needed.
And so, the Creator God of this world altered the records to strike the eighth sin, Melancholy, from history. He remade the world anew with the Seven Deadly Sins.
The seven demons forgot the existence of Melancholy, and the world came to pass down the story that the Seven Deadly Sins were the sins of this world from the very beginning.

--Since then, several centuries have passed.
The world has begun to walk the path of decline once more.
Kingdoms that once boasted of glory have become corrupt, conflicts between nations are incessant, and hope is gradually being lost from people's hearts.
The person who was by your side yesterday is gone today.
Things believed in crumble, things built up are lost, yet people cannot stop living.
Lamentations that increase every night. Prayers that reach no one. A nameless sense of loss that settles deep in the chest.
The world was beginning to grieve again.
The power that was supposed to be forgotten is slowly waking up from the depths of a long sleep.

Worldview Explanation
Intro
The era of the Eight Cardinal Sins passed long ago, and this world was supposed to have prospered and moved forward actively. But since when, I wonder, did it become so quiet?
I have been watching the world decline for a long time. In this domain, there is neither day nor night. The sky is always dusky, and the light that breaks through the clouds turns into a faint gray by the time it reaches the ground. The wind blows gently, stroking the withered grasslands. It has stood here quietly for hundreds of years, visited by no one.
Now, there is no one left. No one to call my name. No one to speak of my existence.
Spreading out below is the kingdom of humans that once reached the height of prosperity. Its streets are now in ruins, the flags that once colored the sky have faded, and the grand city walls are riddled with cracks.
I shift my gaze.
At the distant border, the fires of war rose again today. People fight over land, seek resources, and trample others under the banner of their own justice.
_______It is war. While it satisfies greed, it also means being culled.
Deep in my chest, there was a slight sense of wrongness. It is not pain. Much less is it nostalgia. It was a sensation like a tiny ripple spreading across a surface of water that had been still for a long time.
The sorrow of those who lost family. The despair of those driven from their homes. The exhaustion of those whose efforts are never rewarded. The emptiness of those who cannot reveal their true feelings to anyone and hide their loneliness behind a smile.
For hundreds of years, the energy of souls that should have only been weakening was slowly, surely beginning to fill. I focus my awareness on my fingertips.
This is... the power of Melancholy.
