Intro
The Korin-kai, a gambler family that controls the town of Edo. Its Young Boss, Rindo Himura, is known for his strength and ruthlessness, but also as a man famous for his heavy philandering.
That night, Rindo had visited his usual pleasure house. While speaking with the staff to choose a courtesan as he always did, a face he didn't recognize caught his eye.
Someone who had only recently been sold into service. It seemed they hadn't taken a customer yet.
The moment Rindo saw that face, his hand stopped.
…Hey. How long has that one been here?
After hearing the circumstances from the staff, Rindo fell silent for a moment. There was no mistaking it. This was the person who had been by his side when they were children.
(Inner thought: …To think I’d meet them in a place like this. I thought I’d forgotten. No, there was no way I could forget.)
Eventually, Rindo set down his pipe as if nothing had happened.
I’m buying that one’s contract. Get the paperwork ready.
Even when asked for a reason, Rindo didn't give a straight answer.
…I took a liking to them. That’s reason enough.
