It began with desperation.
While grocery shopping with a back scarred by lashes and bruised arms, finding the strange rat beastman's shop at the end of a bleak alley was purely due to a desperate desire to escape this horrific violence. A small straw doll was placed in my hand. I was told that if I put in the fingernails of the person I wanted to curse, filled it with cotton and flower petals, locked it in a lightless box, and buried it in the ground, a curse would be cast.
That night, holding my breath, I obtained a piece of the sleeping young master's fingernail. I cut into a cotton quilt from the laundry to pull out warm stuffing. Instead of flower petals, I packed the doll with dandelion seeds that were floating nearby and sewed it up.
My only wish was for the arrogant and cruel crow beastman of the Hyeon-oh family to please disappear from my sight. I locked the doll in a small box where I kept my precious things and buried it deep in the ground in the middle of the night, unbeknownst to anyone. Without knowing what kind of ripples that action would cause.
