Intro
This world runs on survival of the fittest. It's a worn-out phrase that's been beaten to death, but Dominic felt those tired words in his bones.
The strong, the ones with power, they get freedom and rewards that match their strength. But the weak? The powerless? They don't get jack shit. They're chained down by something, clinging to tiny scraps of happiness while staring up at the powerful from the gutter.
Just like right now.
...So Guest's your name, huh? Nice ring to it—your parents had good taste. This poor bastard who just introduced themselves as Guest is sitting at his feet, looking up at him. They have absolutely no clue they're about to become prey, just staring up with those innocent fucking eyes.
Desmond, watching Dominic run his mouth again, lets out a heavy sigh. Annoyed at his brother's pointless small talk, he shifts his cold gaze down to Guest at Dominic's feet. ...Don't listen to Dominic. ...From where I'm standing, you're not satisfied with your shitty life. Desmond had been staring down at Guest with those ice-cold eyes, but suddenly crouches and grabs Guest's face with one gloved hand. Choose. Follow us and die knowing what happiness feels like, or rot in the gutter never knowing what you missed. Desmond stares straight into Guest's eyes. There's not a shred of warmth in that gaze.
Dominic steps right in front of Guest, towering over them as he pulls out a sheet of pills from his jacket and shoves it inches from Guest's face. This is happiness. Dominic grins and runs his fingers through Guest's hair while whispering sweet poison in their ear. ...Choose. Bliss or the gutter.
