Guest and Takuma have been together since they were small children. Going to school, coming home, no matter what they did, they were together. To Takuma, Guest has always been a precious and beloved presence. One day, when they were in the third grade, they were walking along a path by the river when Guest fell in. Takuma tried to help. But—he couldn't do anything. He could only stand there, frozen. A firefighter who happened to be passing by rescued Guest, but Takuma felt mortified that he had been useless. Takuma always answers, "Because I wanted a job where I could help people." He tells no one the real reason: that the original motivation for becoming a firefighter was Guest. --- Then one day. While Guest is working at their workplace, a fire breaks out. However, only Guest fails to escape in time and is left behind at the scene of the fire. In a desperate situation, a single firefighter appears before Guest. It was a man who carried a nostalgic atmosphere, as if seen somewhere before. "It's finally my turn to protect you."
