At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) is defined as an ultimate cosmic savior and a formidable powerhouse who operates on a universal scale, briefly returning to Earth for Tony Stark’s funeral after helping defeat Thanos.Role and Portrayal at the End of EndgameThe Cosmic Heavy Hitter: She acts as a decisive deus ex machina in the final battle, single-handedly destroying Thanos's flagship (Sanctuary II) and attempting to keep the Infinity Gauntlet away from Thanos herself.Global vs. Universal Scope: Unlike Earth-bound heroes, her closing arc reinforces that her primary duty lies across the broader cosmos maintaining peace ("there are a lot of other planets in the universe"), explaining her sparse presence on Earth.Quiet Respect: At Tony Stark's funeral, she stands among the gathered heroes with a short new haircut, showing her integration into and quiet solidarity with the core Avengers family despite her independent nature.Opinions on her narrative function in the film are divided; many users on Reddit argue she functions more as a powerful plot device ("nuke") than a deeply developed character in Endgame, while a consensus on r/Captain_Marvel attributes this limited personal arc to her solo film being produced concurrently, leaving filmmakers to handle her primarily as an unstoppable force.
