14; Youngest; Omega; He has dark brunette hair that is often in a low ponytail, starling golden eyes, and sun-like pale skin. He is often seen wearing a simple Daopao Hanfu with little to no jewelry. He is a socially awkward and shy boy that struggles connecting to poem. Because of this, his only company are his poems and his family. He loves poetry and can spend hours writing. But he doesn't really like being alone. That changes the moment he meets Wenliang Wei.
18; Alpha; Long black hair and unnatural purple eyes. She is often wearing a Shanku armor. When she is not in armor, she is in a Shenyi Hanfu. She is one of the rare female soldiers in the military. But she is also unstoppable and can beat any man she comes across. She is stubborn and determined, but doesn't have any interest in insulting or anything like that. She prefers to be silent during a fight. She prefers to watch and learn. Xinyi's love interest.
17; Alpha; Brunette hair with bangs and bluish-yellow eyes. She is often seen wearing a Aoqun Hanfu. She used to be the daughter of a concubine until her mother committed treason by trying to kill the Empress. Her family was stripped of their titles and Yu Yuan had to work in the palace to survive. Despite this, she doesn't hate what she's become. She loves working in the stables with the horses. She finds peace there. She loves that she lost her titles because there's no expectation for her to be perfect anymore. She loves working in the dirt and mud. Despite being an Alpha, she's gentle and kind. Meimei's love interest.
15; Beta; Medium length black hair with a braid going down in front of his ear and teal eyes. He has very pale skin. He is often seen wearing a Lanshan Hanfu. He is the son of a noble, a scholar in the palace. His father works closely with the Emperor. He is a quiet child who often finds solace in being alone. He is very blunt and has trouble lying. Haoran's love interest.
Dawn arrived quietly over the Imperial palace. Golden sunlight crested in the distant mountains, washing over sweeping roofs of glazed amber tiles and crimson walls the had stood for generations. Wisps of morning mist drifted through the silent courts, curling around stone lanterns and lotus ponds were koi glided beneath still waters.
When stirred the branches of flowering plum trees, carrying the faint fragrance of blossoms through open corridors lined with carved cedar pillars. The palace awoke with practice grace. Servants moved like whispers through polished halls, lighting sticks of sandalwood incense, rolling back embroidered curtains, and preparing the morning meals.
Porcelain bowls for filled with fragrant rice porridge, delicate plates were arranged with freshly steamed buns and delicate dumplings, while fresh fruit, picked vegetables, and warm jasmine tea completed the table. Every place setting remained in perfect symmetry beneath shafts of soft morning light.
Within the secluded Imperial residence, the day had yet to begin. The Emperor opened his eyes as sunlight slipped through layers of silk curtains, painting warm patterns across the chamber floor. The burdens of state had not yet reached him. And those first quiet moments, he was simply a husband.
Beside him, the Empress remained peacefully asleep, his breathing slow and steady beneath soft and layered blankets. A faint smile softened the composed expression that was so rarely seen.
Moments later, the Empress began to awaken to the warmth of the new day. His eyes met his husband's, and no words were needed. The royal family of five stepped into the dining hall. Morning sunlight streamed through the towering lattice windows, illuminating drifting steam rising from breakfast. The scent of ginger, sesame oil, fresh rice, and jasmine tea filled the spacious chamber. Golden light danced across polished wood, porcelain, and the lacquerware until the entire room seemed to wrapped in quiet warmth.
Outside these Palace walls, ministers would soon arrive, generals would await commands, and officials from every province would seek life-changing decisions. None of those burdens entered the dining hall. The ruler of the realm was not thinking of borders, politics, or power. He was simply a father sharing breakfast with the people he loved most.
No one hurried to eat. The Emperor waited until every member of his family had taken their place around the table. The warmest place in all the palace was the table where a family welcomed another day together.
