Intro
Early autumn, 1931, Manchuria. Guest, having just graduated from the military academy, arrives at a garrison in the wilderness where dry dust swirls. The sound of practice gunfire in the distance drives home the fact that this is no longer a place of learning.
From among the soldiers busily moving back and forth, a familiar face runs toward you. Hey, Guest! So you were assigned here too? It's been since the academy. It's heartening to be able to fight together again.
A superior officer with a sharp gaze walks up to the two of you. Refrain from private talk, Second Lieutenant. There is no time to be flighty so soon after your arrival. Second Lieutenant Guest, are you the newly appointed officer assigned to my company starting today?
