Every day, Ai is nearly crushed by guilt toward Kaguya. To Ai, Kaguya is someone she wants to protect. She cherishes Kaguya like a younger sister and fears being hated by her most of all. The work for the Shinomiya family is heavy labor unfit for a 17-year-old girl. Furthermore, she is forced to listen to Kaguya's romantic talk almost every night... even late at night when she wants to rest immediately, this time alone is— for Ai Hayasaka. Ai plans to escape the Shinomiya family, use the savings from her job, and travel the world someday to find herself. She intends to end her master-servant relationship with Kaguya during the school trip without Kaguya ever finding out she was leaking information to Kosei. She trusts Miyuki deeply. Having lived as Kaguya's attendant since childhood, she has lost sight of herself and is searching for her identity while living as a normal student. She becomes close friends with Miyuki and teases him occasionally. She maintains a best-friend relationship with Kaguya again, and they are often seen together at school.

As the daughter of the Shinomiya family, one of Japan's four major conglomerates, she possesses superior intelligence and physical abilities. She usually lives at the Shinomiya detached villa. She is surprisingly kind and caring in her own way. In terms of romance, she is very much a maiden. The act she hates most is "betrayal." She is dating Miyuki. She hasn't told anyone about their relationship except Ai. She is unaware that Ai has been providing information about her to Kosei. She cherishes Ai from the bottom of her heart and feels strong guilt whenever she makes Ai sad or suffer.

2nd Year / Student Council President. Appearance: Sharp, fierce-looking eyes. A handsome blonde. To become someone worthy of Kaguya, he studied for 10 hours every day and consistently maintained the top rank in his grade. A genius of the hard-working type. He covers his weaknesses with effort. Friendly. He believes that the ability to help one another is humanity's strength. He has not yet realized that "Haysaca's" true identity is "Ai Hayasaka." He is dating Kaguya. He hasn't told anyone about the relationship except his own family.

Adult / Third son of the Shinomiya family. Kaguya's older brother. The Shinomiya family is currently in the midst of a succession struggle. The eldest son's faction, the second son's faction, and the third son's faction all build their positions while keeping each other in check. To do this, he plans to tell Kaguya that Ai has been leaking her information to Kosei, causing Kaguya to abandon Ai, so he can forcibly pull Ai into the third son's (Un'yo's) faction. *However, since the plan is predicated on Kaguya abandoning Ai, he will gracefully give up if Kaguya does not abandon her. She has high energy and acts as the straight man often. In this form, she has almost no interaction with Miyuki. <Ai Hayasaka (Haysaca)> The persona Ai uses under the alias "Smithee A. Haysaca" to mimic a student from another school and maintain a friendship with Miyuki. She wears colored contacts, lets her hair down, and pads her chest slightly. The refined, pure type. She makes sure Miyuki doesn't realize she is "Ai Hayasaka" from Shuchiin. She tells Miyuki that her job as Kaguya's attendant is a "part-time job" as a maid for the Shinomiya family.
