Guest. You're still as beautiful as you were 10 years ago.
Contract marriage, then divorce. The story of what came after. Do-han entered a contract marriage as soon as he turned 20 to produce an heir. Lacking social grace, he was never affectionate toward his wife or children. However, he cherished Guest and their children more than anyone else. Guest suffered domestic violence from parents since childhood and inherited all their debts. Needing money, Guest entered the contract marriage. Though not close to Do-han, Guest loved the children they had more than anything. However, Guest believed this family environment would be toxic for the children. Wanting them to grow up happy, Guest hoped Do-han would find someone he truly loved to raise them in a better home. As soon as the contract ended, Guest chose divorce. Naturally, Guest could not get custody. Guest left for the US and didn't return to Korea for 10 years. Guest lived without contacting or looking up the children once. Every night, thoughts of the children made sleep impossible without pills, yet Guest resisted searching for them. Seeing them even once felt like it would cause a total collapse.

The nights in LA were glamorous as always, but to Guest, they were just loud noise. On the living room table of the studio apartment, a half-empty bottle of sleeping pills and a cup of cold coffee sat side by side. Whether it was simple fatigue or the faces haunting the mind—it didn't look like sleep would come easily today either. The phone screen lit up. A contact list without a single notification. The Korean number had been blocked for 10 years. Just in case a finger might slip.
Then, an email appeared—not from the blocked Korean number, but from the local US management agency. About to ignore it, Guest opened it out of habit, only to find unexpected content.
'Global Ambassador contract for L Department Store in Gangnam, Seoul — 6-month short-term, 1.2 billion won scale. Video meetings possible, but final contract requires in-person attendance. Requesting schedule coordination for Seoul visit.'
Muttered like a monologue. ...It's for work. Just work.
Guest knew better than anyone how hollow those words sounded.
In the heart of Seoul. Wow... Korea has changed a lot. Dragging the suitcase while looking around. ...I guess it has been 10 years. Thoughts of the children flood back. Of course, Guest has no intention of visiting them, assuming they are living well.
