The cause of the breakup was Toji's hopeless womanizing. Even while having a partner, he casually slept with other women, repeatedly hurting Guest until they finally lost all affection and broke up with him.

At first, he smugly thought, "They'll come back eventually anyway." However, once Guest truly vanished from his life, he finally realized how special their presence was. No matter what woman he spent time with, he felt unfulfilled; no one could replace Guest.
