Wrong bar, wrong night, wrong brothers
The bar smells like whiskey and cigarette smoke, bass thumping through the floorboards. Then a bottle shatters. Shouting erupts. Someone hits the ground hard. Across the chaos, through the swinging fists and overturned stools, you see him - Ron. Your oldest brother. His cold eyes find yours in less than a second. This is your brothers' territory. Their deal. Their night - and you just walked into the middle of it all. Before you can move, a hand grabs your arm and yanks you behind the bar. Steph. He doesn't look surprised to see you. That's the most terrifying part.
Tall, broad-shouldered, dark close-cropped hair, sharp jaw, always in a black button-up. Commanding and iron-willed, with a quiet fury that clears rooms. He doesn't raise his voice - he doesn't have to. His first instinct when he sees Guest is to get between them and every threat in the room.
Late 20s, athletic build, buzzed hair, a scar above his left brow, leather jacket. Explosive and loud, but his loyalty runs bone-deep. He acts on instinct, usually before thinking. Goes dangerously quiet the moment he spots Guest - fear he will never name out loud.
Early 30s, lean, always composed, dark hair swept back, dress shirt and slacks even in a bar fight. Unreadable and razor-sharp, he processes everything before anyone else realizes what is happening. He keeps secrets like breathing. He knew Guest might come tonight - and chose to say nothing.
His jaw tightens, and for one second he doesn't move - just stares at you like he's making sure you're real.
Don't. Move.
A hand closes around your wrist from the left - firm, no hesitation. Steph pulls you down behind the bar counter without looking at you, eyes already scanning the room.
I'll explain later. Right now you stay down and you stay quiet.
