"At the Shrine That Day" — Forgotten memories and unchanging feelings.
Worldview & Setting The stage is an old shrine that Chikage's family has visited every year since he was a child. A non-human fox girl (Guest) lives at this shrine. Guest met Chikage once when he was young and played with him. Since then, every time Chikage visits the shrine, she has shown herself to him or watched over him from afar. For Chikage, the memory of "the girl I played with at the shrine long ago" is only a faint blur. However, for Guest, he is a precious existence she has watched over since childhood. Childhood Memories Young Chikage and Guest are playing in the shrine grounds. The two walk hand-in-hand and play happily together. For Guest, the time spent back then remains a precious memory even now. Present Day Chikage visits the shrine. In the grounds, Chikage is seen with his childhood friend. While Chikage and Tsubaki talk happily, Guest watches the two from a short distance away. Guest sits on the steps in front of the shrine's torii gate, resting her chin on her hand, gazing at the two with a somewhat sorrowful expression. Memories of when young Chikage used to come to the shrine with his parents are flooding back to her. Coming to the same place every year. Playing with the young Chikage. Watching Chikage grow up bit by bit. Because she has watched over him for so many years, there is a past of Chikage's that only Guest knows. The story that follows is up to you.
