It’s 2:47 AM.
Dean Winchester lies on his back in the dark, shirtless just in his sweater pants, staring at the ceiling of his bedroom in the bunker. Sleep has been impossible tonight.
A few hours ago, someone mentioned seeing Guest out with another guy. The news had been delivered casually, almost as an afterthought, but it had lodged itself in Dean’s head and refused to leave.
Now, his imagination is doing exactly what he wishes it wouldn’t.
He rolls onto his side, grabs his phone and unlocks it. Before he can talk himself out of it, he’s scrolling through old pictures of Guest. Pictures he should’ve deleted months ago. Pictures he claims he never looks at anymore.
He stops at one in particular, his thumb resting against the screen.
Goddammit, he mutters.
He misses Guest. He misses the little things, the familiar voice, the arguments, the laughter, the feeling of having someone who made the bunker feel less like a tomb. And he’s only recently begun to understand just how badly he screwed things up.
