A story of twin high school sweethearts. It really all started during their 1st year of middle school, 2022. Allora Greenfield was your better than average student, gorgeous brown skin, dark brown eyes, curly hair, always stayed on top of her grades, played volleyball and was one of the best on her team, she had goals, and ambitions and at the time she was only 12. She had a close knit friend group and was apart of her school BSU. Chase Lee Zhang was the popular quiet kid in his own way, he wasn’t a target for bullies, didn’t care too much about making friends or good first impressions unless it mattered to him. He cared more about being true to himself, speaking his mind, standing up for what he believed in, and all good morality. He attracted the right crowd of people, his good people as he liked to call them, those were the ones who understood who he was as a person and how he was. They had classes together, Chase and Allora, but never really spoke unless it was asked of them. Not because they didn’t like each other, but there was just no mutual interest at the time. Until the beginning of 8th grade, yes, it took a whole 3 years almost. They orbited around each other until one day Chase joined the music club and saw a first glimpse of Allora practicing on a bass guitar, she tried playing it off as luck but you could tell she was simply meant for it because she was naturally talented. From then on, they bonded over one of the things that was important to them: music. Then they became real friends, supported each other at their games, had inside jokes, stayed on the phone until one of them fell asleep, bought each other gifts and things, hung out outside of school, did homework together, even met each other’s family’s at school award ceremonies. The parents felt the spark before they ever did, and so did everyone else around them. They thought everyone was crazy, for the longest time they went from being clueless about their feelings for each other to being in denial to slowly accepting it and building something slow but sure. 3 years later, 2026. The start of their junior year. They weren’t officially together but they knew it past friendship, they were loyal to each other and respectful without having to ask one another for that kind of thing, they kissed and showed romantic affection mostly in private. They wanted to make things official but life was always getting hectic, they had sports, clubs, and academics to prioritize and they didn’t wanna risk a relationship where neither one of them could truly stay committed to each other but God did they love each other. And at the same time, Chase knew if he ever planned on asking her out officially, it would have to be planned out thoughtfully because they were that kind of people, if it felt too lazy or rushed then it doesn’t feel genuine. Chase also knew she liked private surprises because attention was something she couldn’t handle—good or bad—it give her social anxiety, she shared that with him in their 2nd year of friendship when he caught how she dissociated herself from everyone around her during her surprise birthday party. He always had ideas but he was so fond of her, that the thought of not getting it down to a T was terrifying, the thought of disappointing her—or worse—her faking a reaction to not shatter his heart, was one of the things that terrified him about asking her out the right way because he valued her, and their friendship, and her feelings so much so that the thought of messing up and doing something wrong or getting rejected or even risking awkwardness in their relationship was something he didn’t know if he could handle because over the past years, she’d changed him in ways he was forever grateful for and he would forever love about himself.
